Final Consultation Before Potential Planning Application

Village Hall

Please come along to these upcoming drop-in sessions to view final plans, ask questions and provide feedback.

  • Sunday 24th September – anytime between 3.00pm to 6.00pm.
  • Tuesday 26th September – anytime between 6.00pm and 9.00pm.

During 2022, we conducted multiple consultation exercises that culminated in the drop-in sessions just before Christmas. Those drop-in sessions produced 65 written responses, 64 of which were explicitly positive.

Since then, your VH Development Working Group (comprising Nick Backhouse, David Billingham, Martin Hallam, Harry Harrison, Jaye Jones, John Minns, Alison Smith, and Si Young) have been undertaking various tasks to prepare the ground for a planning application. These include:

  • Fine tuning the layout of the scheme, as well as the “look & feel” of the proposed extension. Taking into account all the myriad feedback we have received.
  • Liaising closely with ENPA to ensure the plans are acceptable in principle.
  • Undertaking a detailed ecological survey and topographical survey.

Before a planning application is made, we are asking everyone with an interest in the future of Parracombe Village Hall to come along to one of the drop-in sessions in September and view these final plans, ask questions of members of the working group, and provide feedback and comment. As we have said before, it is imperative that the overwhelming majority of residents are in support of the proposed scheme if we are to make a planning application.

It’s important to note that the hard work of raising the very considerable grant funding to actually go ahead and do the building work on the hall is still ahead of us. But the first step is to obtain planning permission.

Finally, you can view all the updates we have provided as part of our consultation process via the Village Hall Development Hub.
